Preparing care before the hospital

The optimal organisation of pre-hospital emergency care is essential. It allows rational preparation for emergencies wherever they occur outside the hospital.

“By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.”

The bystander, first link in the chain of survival

Sudden death is defined as an unexpected death occurring within the first hour after symptoms appear. It does not only affect adults: it also strikes children, anywhere and at any time.

In cardiac arrest, there are only 3 to 4 minutes to restore heart activity. A potential first aider is anyone near the victim when the emergency occurs: every citizen must be able to help.

Protecting schools

An emergency can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time, even the sudden death of a member of staff or a pupil: a real tragedy for the school and for society.

Anticipation is essential to keep the victim alive until medical help arrives. It relies on first aid training and on equipping schools with first aid equipment: first aid kits and Automated External Defibrillators.
